I want to do a diesel purge of Prudence (2005 Liberty) like was done here: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=240656

What I would like to know is if there is an in-tank lift pump relay or fuse that needs to be pulled first.

Simply question that I cannot seem to find an answer to.

I also have a squeaky viscous heater but I found answers to that one! It was a rough winter on the Liberty: new glow plugs (glow worms as my wife calls them) in early December, followed shortly by a wheel bearing going out. Now the bushings in the front suspension are groaning (Al's A-Arms?!?) and I hate my job, but that isn't Prudences fault.

Anyway, just venting a bit. If someone can answer my first question about diesel purging I will be a satisfied man.

Thanks!

Unless you installed one there is no in tank lift pump. Mine had a great winter it is summer all year long in south florida. I think I am never going to have to change the glow plugs. I Quit my hated job and it took two months but I now have a better job making less money and have two days off in a row. No nights. It is going great.

Ah but you will never know the thrill of working on a car at 10 below zero. Or taking a snowshoe hike in the woods to ice caves at 17 below.

I only plugged in Prudence a couple of times after the glow plug change, she didn't enjoy starting in the cold but did everytime.

So the in-tank pump is only on gassers??? I was sure I read a write up here about changing out the pump for a CRD.

There is no in tank pump as stock, only if a previous owner installed one.

Winter definitely has its beauty but it's way too long over here... I'd be rather sipping some cocktails on the beach in South Florida, lol.
