Transmission is not shifting up when it is supposed to (intermittently). Revs to 4000 rpm before going to 3rd and 4th and won't go to fifth unless I am coasting downhill. I'm getting several codes: P0700 (general trans fault), P0715 (input sensor on trans), P0733 (shift ratio), ect. When I clear the codes, the first one to pop up is the 715.
The input sensor is only $20 at Advanced Auto, so I changed it, cleared the codes and test ran. It did not help. I have 2 other matching Liberties, so I pulled the TCM from one of them and swapped it with the one in this one. It did not help. Service manual says to check wiring between input sensor and TCM. No problem there that I can detect (not grounding out and not broken,,,, but I am testing when the vehicle is not moving or running, so that could be masking the problem). I decided to try swapping the output sensor with the input sensor (they are the same) that I removed to see if the problem followed the sensor, but I did not get any new codes (should throw a P0720 if the output sensor is malfuntioning).
So I am stumped. I am also having a drainback issue at startup (the anti-drainback valve has failed in the filter, which allows the oil to drain back into the pan when not running. At startup, I have to wait for the pump to refill the trans). I don't think this is related, because it is only a problem at startup. This also happened around 100k and a new filter cured it. It did not have any shifting problems at that time. I now have 120k on the odometer. I will change the filter when I get it in the shop.
Any ideas out there on my shifting problem???
