My neighbor had a bad serpentine idler pulley that was causing his belt to jump around. I did a search and came up with two part numbers: 5066938aa and 68211444aa. The second one seems to have replaced the first, but some websites are still showing the first one in stock for a couple dollars less than the newer part number. Is there any real difference between the two? Neighbor has 125,000 miles on his CRD. I'm going to order 3 for him and 3 for me to help save shipping.

just go to any auto parts store and get a 203 bearing, then go to ace hardware and get 3 M5-8 bolts, 3 M5 lock washers, 3 M5 nuts, and a small tube of blue thread lock. it should not cost more than 10 bucks.
All you need to do then is remove the idler rivets (3) with a 4mm punch and a hammer, split the idler apart, replace the bearing, install the M5 bolts with thread lock in place of the rivets, let cure for an hour or two, and install the idler back again. It should be as good as new.
I'll try to post pics later.

Thanks for the info! Unfortunately, I already ordered the idlers this morning before you posted. Total cost of 6 with shipping was $167.78 ($27.96 each). I can rebuild my old ones using your info and use them on my other two Jeeps for a fraction of the cost (Advance Auto sells that 203 bearing for $12.09 each). Thanks again.

I picked up a couple of these bearings from my parts store and they only have a dust seal on one side. I assumed they'd be fully sealed. Did I get the wrong type?

I think 203ss has double dust seal. Some 203 have other uses, including some alternators.

Btw, Timken lately doesn't make all the bearings branded Timken, they are more geared towards industrial applications, they kind of license the name to 3rd parties that build the bearings.
