I installed the B&M 70269 trans cooler but I forgot to pay much attention to which line I hooked to the top/bottom, does the location of the supply/return lines make a difference? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bmm-70268 |

I don't know that it makes much difference. 2 of the 3 tranny cooler posts I've saved don't mention anything and topan's (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=62013&p=686385&hilit=cooler#p686385) says he did it one way mainly because he thought it would work better. |

From what I know, it shouldn't. It may be easier to fill up the cooler with pressure line charging from top. It all depends on how your cooler is positioned and what type of cooler you have, your cooler may have the "smart" cooling lines (first lines are straight - like a straight pipe, then next start having a zig-zag), meaning the flow would increase as the fluid temp increases, like when cold, fluid will pass through one or two lines in the cooler, and as fluid temperature increases and becomes more fluid, will get through all the cooler, in which case it won't matter how you connect your lines too much as you'll fill it up anyways at some point as your tranny fluid temp increases (in this case make sure you check your fluid level when the tranny temp is high - a gauge in tranny pan would help). I dont remember which line is pressure but fsm should tell you. Keep in mind the 545rfe has a thermal bypass and fluid won't go through your cooler till it reaches some temperature, from my own observation that bypass opens at 130-ish degrees. Couldn't find this info exactly anywhere, if somebody knows, ill appreciate the info. |

To add to my comments for what it's worth I suspect that if it matters for a particular brand/model of tranny cooler that the install instructions would say so and/or the in/out pipes would be marked. |

Thanks guys, and yeah you would think that if there is an "IN/OUT" port on the cooler then it would have arrows showing flow on the connections. |
