I found a really nice 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD Limited Flame red loaded with options just like I have been looking for in central Indiana, This one is rust free, dosen't have leaks and looks great other than a few coffee stains. The only thing is that it has 116,000 miles and I am looking for one with under 80,000 however this one has extremely good maintenance records and the price isn't bad I managed to get them down to $9,800. The previous owner Included his record book in the owerns manual and done everything ahead of schedule EGR 18k trans module at 20k, trans fluid at 30k and 70k with transfer case, the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and idlers, and coolant flush at 91k a turbo hose at 62k and it looks like hes got down the turbo was replaced at 102k. Iam assuming that most of the miles on this one are easy low wear highway miles due to its excellent condition and very little seat wear. In fact if had the insturment cluster had been swapped to lets say 45k on this one you would never know the difference. I was wondering if I should keep looking for a lower mileage one or if this one is a bargain because of the good maintenance and lower price. |

I wouldn't call it a bargain. it is probably right on the price if it the maintenance is up to date and it was well cared for like you said. I got my limited with 68k miles a bit over two years ago for $12400 drive out. It was and still is in immaculate shape but I had to drive 22 hundred miles to pick it up. So it is really up to what you want. remember that at 80k miles you will have to do the timing belt job in no time and for some owners that seems to be a break point and they don't want to deal with it, which in that case having one with the TB recently done like what you described would actually be better than getting one approaching 100k miles. Hope that helps.

Sounds good, check any stored ODBII codes and look for accident damage...as stated any CRD at 80,000 will need the new TB soon in any case. If only one turbo hose was replaced I would have the other done as well and replace front and rear diff oil. |

I bought a well maintained CRD at a similar price and have been very happy with it. If I were still in the market I'd be driving the one you described home today |

What kind of driving did he do? Personally if all it was is to and from work which is 20 miles round trip I would be scared. Plus why would the turbo need replaced at 102k? Seems odd. I have 108k on mine and the turbo has no play whatsoever. Does he have receipts for the work? |

it looks ligit he has a small notebook in with the owners manual with light grease prints it appears that he didn't wash his hands before documenting his work all and one receipt from the timing belt parts. |

If you can verify the timing belt records are correct. Its not a bad deal. Is the EGR still being used? If no, GOOD! If yes? Thats alot of miles for the engine to be damaged from EGR use and the top of the engine may need removed to inspect / change the rockers. Parts for this can get over $1k and if you can't do it yourself? Labor over $2k or more from a Stealership. Good luck KJJET FYI...I payed $10,000 flat for my CRD with 39k miles over 5 years ago. Included a 80k jeep warranty. (I know..too good to be true. But it is) |

ok I sealed the deal on it today for $9,700 and it comes with a 60 day full power train warranty. I even have the origional window sticker that came with it loaded with options brand new it cost $31,500 so for about a third of the price I got one that has atleast 2/3 of life left in it so I think I got a fair deal but only time will tell. It does not have any modifications as far as eco tunes but Iam sure that the EGR can be deleted I don't it on my Volkswagen Jetta TDI and it wasn't a bad job I just put a delete pipe on the intake and an exhaust block off plate on the manifold and took the intake manifold off and cleaned it with a steam cleaner. Hope fully I can do the same with my CRD. |

Good success with your CRD! Install a GDE tune as soon as you are able, it is well worth it |

Ok its now official I am now a Jeep Liberty CRD owner after thousands of miles of searching test driving and hours of tech research Iam willing to accept any challanges and mechanical issues that my result in owning one of these rare and versital automobiles and I look forward to not getting stuck anymore with my 2 wheel drive pickup truck in 2 inches of snow or in the barn yard after a light rain. The first thing that I will do to it of coarse is an EGR delete tune, I heard that they can tune it to get better fuel economy as well and give it more diesel clatter by reprograming the ECM to eliminate the pre combustion injection that makes quiet, myself I prefer the noise. |

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the club. You can now look forward to getting stranded on an off ramp or at traffic lights instead of in a field There are a number of tune options out there all similar in features and price but GDE seems to be the most popular and is what most folks here have installed. GDE are known to stand behind their product, give great support and go out of their way to ensure that you're a happy customer. Expect between 10%-20% improvement in fuel economy along with clean oil due to the EGR delete and a bit extra hp. It's the by far best upgrade you can do for your CRD and will easily pay for itself if your engine holds out long enough. |
