| Post subject: | TPMS Stems |
I broke a stem for one of my tire pressure sensors. Did a search and found that just the stem is available and can be replaced rather than replacing the entire sensor. The only problem is there are 2 different manufacturers available...Siemens and Schrader. Does anyone know which one is in our Libertys? |

Cannot directly answer your question but consider that if you still have the original OEM TPMS sensor that their life span runs 5-9 years so with an 05 you, like me, are living on fast approaching borrowed time. Might be cheaper in the long run to get a Dorman 974-001 and pay $10 to have it installed now vs spending that or more to do the same thing in a year or so. |

The stems are only about $5 and I can break down the tire myself so no $s for labor. I see your point on the lifespan. I will be needing new tires in about a year or so and I would do all 5 then. |

Yeh if I could do the tires myself I'd probably just replace the stem too. When you get new tires next year consider the Dorman's as they are much less expensive than OEM and seem to work fine on stoutdog's 06. |

Guess I'll just break down the spare and see what make is in there. |

I got around to breaking down my spare today and found my CRD has the Siemens TPMS sensors. Being that a stem kit for the Siemens is $19.99 (the stem for the Schrader was $4.79) I may just wait until I put new tires on and change all 5. The one that broke (my fault, metal caps) is on the left front and doesn't leak and there was enough threads to screw on another cap to keep the dirt out. |
