So our Liberty has been totally reliable since the green diesel tune besides a split turbo hose, but has had two annoying issues with the warning lights that have been persistant.

First, the oil light comes on momentarily on cool mornings where it's about 60* outside (not when it's freezing cold or hot), then goes out after 5-10 seconds. I know the sensors are notorious, but I tried two replacements (a Borg-Warner and then a factory one) and it made no difference.

Second, the water in fuel light started coming on occaisionally. I went ahead and changed the filter the first time and it still came on, so then I changed the sensor and it STILL comes on. The funny thing is is only does it when going uphill, and usually once in a driving session if at all. I've drained it numerous times with no visible water in the container.

After seeing another post involving both these dummy lights acting up together I can't help but think they could be related somehow. Any thoughts?

did you change the filters involved?

I suspect your oil filter drain back is weak on the oil filter, the fuel, not a clue but it's the cheap and easy start to trouble shooting

Yep, first thing I did was install the correct Mobil 1 oil filter. I also changed the fuel filter, twice now. Never has any water in it.

Check both connections in the fuel head. If it's a generation 1 fuel head they are known to leak by the driver's side connector and that might be where you're finding some condensation/air issues causing your light.

It's the updated head. It was one of the first things I fixed when I bought it, but I'll check it again just to be sure.
