OK I've developed my priorities:

1) Replace thermostat - ordered / delivered today (with gasket and I'll be using the instructions by squeeto: viewtopic.php?f=98&t=64568

2) Replace motor mount(s) (now in house) -time and effort passenger side first, with heat shield and clatter seeming to come from exhaust line. With instructions from thermoex:

3) Lift - stock suspension - leaning towards JBA kit with JBA UCA 4.5. OME all around.

Please, do the gde tune soon. You won't believe the improvements. I just looked today after almost 6000 miles, to the oil... it looks as it was just changed. Keith at gde is a genius, the tune is the first and most important tune to the CRD.

$500 is a lot to take on. Not to mention the future lift is currently at about $1.2K all through jeepinbyal. I have been considering it though. Thanks.

Not that you're incorrect ($500 isn't necessarily pocket money), but the improvements offered by reducing the amount of abrasive soot in your intake GREATLY outweigh the cost. You might recoup the costs on fuel in a couple years, but you'll also likely extend the life of your lifters, possibly extend your safe oil change interval, reduce the load (and slipping) of the transmission torque converter, etc.

Frankly, unless you're going over 2.5" of lift, the JBA arms (while a solid product) are optional on the CRD, and I'd put that lower on the list than solid engine management upgrades. I have an OME lift (well, frankenlift) and there's NO rubbing or adverse geometry in the suspension. I might get the arms some day, but I in no way NEED them to get the full benefits of the lift. The CRD's cradle is a little lower than the gas model, so they have to be lifted a little higher before geometry becomes a problem.

I agree with Dan with gde tune. You can't appreciate it's value till you don't have it for few weeks. My oil, after 6000 miles, looks like after 100 miles before the tune. Plus better fuel economy and more torque and power. It should be the first purchase for any crd. It is well worth the investment, even considering the programming box for an additional 200.
