I always wanted a front hitch, partly for the tow hooks and the hitch, but mostly as a mount for a Snowbear - I'm going to use the Jeep to plow my driveway this winter.

I ordered a Curt from etrailer and put it on today. The instructions were pretty clear, but didn't seem to apply exactly to my vehicle. I wonder if the spoiler and front trim changed some over the years. I did have to remove the lower air dam, but I didn't have to cut the wheel wells at all, as stated in the instructions. I could have cut the plastic to allow the receiver to poke thru, but I just pushed it up over the hitch and it seems okay. You could also pull the plastic down and cover the hitch, but it seemed to distort it more.

Overall, it wasn't too hard. Had to drill two mounting holes, plus a third larger hole on the passenger side to snake the bolt and mounting hardware in. Having figured it all out now, I could probably do it in 2 hours.

Etrailer.com was very good, by the way. I found a lower price on Amazon and just asked them to match it, but they went ahead and matched it plus 10%. And they said it would take four days, but it arrived in two.

Cool. I have a question for you, if you mount it upside down, how would it align with the front bumper? I dont mind some additional welding/cutting the plastic and metal bumper, would be curious if the front bumper cover would be able to cover the bulk of the hitch, except the receiver.

I'm not sure know what you mean by upside down. It bolts to the bottom of the frame rail; if you turned it upside down how would you be mounting it?

What I meant is to rotate yours by 180 degrees, so it ends up upside down. I am sure the holes wont match anymore. What I'm trying to accomplish is to have a solid, reliable 2 inch receiver at bumper level, without having to make a custom one from scratch. If yours would fit the way I want, w/o too many modifications, would be perfect for me. So in other words id rather get one that requires light modifications than building one from scratch.

I don't think it will work. The mounts reach pretty far up to the frame, so if you turn it upside down they will just be pointing down at the ground.

I have a KK but I got one as a starting point to make my own. But haven't had time to do it. Had to make a new kayak trailer. Now well we'll see what happens.

Thats what I was thinking, to get a front hitch to have a starting point and make my life easier. But I think I'll just build one from scratch.
