I have seached and have not found anyone on here that explain STARTER removable , I see two bolts , are there more ?

I have the jeep jacked up and do not have the skid plate on

Remove the heat shield (2 bolts), unbolt the electrical connections, remove the 2 mounting bolts, pull out starter.

thanks so other then wiring connections there are only 2 bolts holding to the bell housing

That looks like a gas engine. I think there are three on ours.

No problem.

To the original poster, check the 2006 service manual for the procedure, as the procedure for the removal on a diesel engine doesn't appear in the 2005 service manual.

so it turns out I do not have to remove my starter , after looking looking farther into the issue and I was going to jumper the solenoid , I found the wire off the connector , plugged it back in and it starts :pepper:

no idea how it came off

I do not remember remove the heat shield part? :wink:
