At AROUND 2500 RPM, 2250 IIRC, the Turbo kicks in. If you are getting black smoke at 2500, then take your turbo inlet hose off and inspect it, specifically the underside where it connects to the turbo. Then if you don't find any holes there, take off both of the intercooler hoses and remove the shrouds from them, and inspect them thoroughly looking for leaks/tears all through the hose. If you like paying $1100+ for a turbo, sure, wait for a CEL, if you don't lose the bottom end through oil discharge when the seal goes, or if you don't lose a rocker or lifter first from over-work. Just saying. |

Are you by chance using rebuilt turbos? |

Yes I am from turbo charger pros out of California I have been dealing with Will there and he mentioned that with this turbo they have never had a failure I replaced the turbo about 1500 miles ago and installed the Eco tune about 600 miles after the install At least this time the replacement will be easier since I have done the job not too long ago |

I have never seen a rebuilt VGT turbo last longer than 10,000 miles. Rebuilders do not have the proper equipment to balance the rotating assembly. If balance is out just a little bit, the g forces will exceed the bearing limits and severely reduce turbo life. |

It's not just the need to balance the mass of the impellers, but also the need to balance dynamic loads and the thrust. Buy an original Garrett OEM and be done with it, otherwise you will continue to replace rebuilt units at a short interval. |

I certainly do not disagree on the rebuilt turbo comments but I will note for the future, don't know when or if, that it's worth checking with Garrett as they have started offering a few Garrett factory rebuilt turbos which should be acceptable. |
