Post subject:  Brake pad rec?
Hi guys
Just wanted to see what you guys recommend for brake pads, the CRD needs them and I havn't replaced them yet. In previous vehicles my experience has always been that dealer pads are ridiculously expensive, but when I get other pads (have tried prostop, hawk, raybestos) the brake dust is always horrible. What are you guys happy with?

I've got ceramics but don't know what brand. Seem to stop just fine and no special amount of brake dust.

Ceramic brake pads produce less dust or at least lighter colored dust than the metalic brake pads. They are a bit more expensive.

I believe all the NA liberty's came stock with Ceramic.

I have Akebono ceramics on my CRD. I have 6K on them and so far so good... and they are US made...

Porterfield R4S pads and "Frozen Rotors" are great for towing.

Akebono is a very good brand. But, if you really want the best, get brembo. There is nothing like brembo, have the front on the Cherokee, pads and rotors, and it is a huuuuge difference between how it was before with ceramics. Its about 2-3 times more than a premium pads and rotors from let's say napa or chinazone, but if you want performance, get that. EBay has them, both pads and rotors. Keep saying will get them on crd, but I still have the ceramics on. Ceramics don't have the stopping power of a ferrous pad, but are more guaranteed won't warp your rotors. If you don't feel like spending 250+ on brakes for brembo, stick with Akebono, that would be my 2nd choice. Your call on ceramic or not, cryo treated disks or regular. For normal drive, regular and ceramics is perfect.

Performance Friction from Oreilly. They are a carbon metallic pad. No brake dust and no brake fade. The police cars around here use them. Absolutely 100% the best pad.

Had extremely good results with EBC "Greenstuff" pads on my previous lifted and locked Suzuki Grand Vitara, sporting much larger than stock tires. Organic compound that is extremely easy to clean off the rims. Stopped the thing on a dime!! However, they are NOT cheap! Worth every penny, though! The higher the series number, the more powerful stopping (6000 series for SUVs and 7000 series for SUVs). Pair them up with SP Performance premium rotors, and you can stop a freight-train!

I'm using Wagner ThermoQuiet ceramic brake pads and very pleased with them. Even the wife commented how nice the brakes work.
