Hi all,

1) The previous owner did not give me the USB cable with the GDE flash tool. Will a generic one from a printer or external hard drive work?

2) How can I tell whether the tune currently on my ECU is the GDE tune or stock tune? I read the online instructions but this wasn't apparent to me. (I haven't plugged it in to play around with it yet. I believe the previous owner had a hard time flashing the ECU and sent it back to you to be flashed, so I'm not sure whether the flashloader is even working properly. He mentioned something about it needing an upgrade?; is this done by connecting it to the PC as indicated in the instructions, or do I need to send this in?).

Question #2 may have to be answered by Keith at GDE. However on question #1 the tuner I have has 2 cables:
1. tuner to vehicle communication plug below steering column and
2. tuner to PC - this is as standard USB "printer" cable. Flat USB at one end and squarish "printer" plug at the other end. Any similar cable should work just fine.

If the ECM is loaded with the GDE Tune, you should see a slight rev up in RPM as soon as the engine starts, then settle down to idle.

Thanks, guys. Keith replied via email with this info. You're both right on.
