Hello,

I am trying to determine if I have the 7v ceramic or the 5v steel glow plugs installed in my CRD so I can buy proper replacements.

My glow plug module has part# 56044671AC on the side, which I understand is the new style part.

My engine has the original 7v glow plug warning sticker on the timing belt cover.

Thanks

When you search for this part# in the net, you will find by example this side -> http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOPAR-56044671A ... 0806772601 who shows, that you need normal 11V glow plugs...

bye,
samse

You can also look for a red band around the tip of your current glow plugs. This would indicate they are Mopar 5V.

Samse please read my previous reply as regards 11 volt glow plugs....these 11 volt plugs were only used on Export 2002/2003/2004 CRDs.

There is so much confusion going around as regards 5 volt, 7 volt, ceramic, metal, OEM or Etecno, glow plug controllers, re-flashing the ECU etc. that we really do not need to confuse our USA brothers any more than is really needed! :D

Hi Billlwill,

i´ve read your post, but i´m now also confused -> weeks101 wrote in his first post his glow plug module # 56044671AC: and if you google this in the net you will find a relais with 12V shown on it...

Very difficult.... :dizzy:

Just glad to know, that i need the 11V glow plugs...

bye,
samse

It's not a part lookup, but there's always a voltmeter reading between the power lead and body ground to tell you how much is being used. That is assuming you're not dealing with existing fault codes (throwing a wrench into the works...)

Consensus seems to be:

Red ring = 5V
White ring = 7v
