Hey i was just wondering if anyone else thought it would be a good idea to have a modification thread that is diesel specific..... Ive got a few things done to my crd that were specific to the crd such as exhaust, intake and a pcv mod and figured why not have a thread that shares what weve all done to get ideas from one another. That would save having to scour through the pages and occasionally find something that applies to the CRD that one might want to do to theirs as well. I understand that there is a modification sticky on the main forum page but that has to do with all the jeeps on this forum. Any thoughts?? :juggle:

I think this will add value, I bet there are few of us that would be interested in typical mods for crds.

It depends. There are some mods that are on the forum that do more damage than good. Plus... some mods are good if installed correctly. Installed wrong? may cause lots of damage. We cant even get simple procedures, like timing procedures to be done by the book. People like to cut corners and post them. Ya.. it may work for some but not others.

Good mods: EGR, in-line Thermostat, Provent.

But even the Provent, if installed or maintained wrong will do more damage than good.

A disclaimer is needed if your going to support a Mod page.

That's my :2cents:

Kjjet, this is a forum, there are good and bad ideas around, I know you know it already, like most of the active people here. A disclaimer is indeed useful, but most people that would go in a modification forum should know that everything they do it's on their own risk... having easy access to information should not justify restricting it due to some people's ignorance. I am personally all for sharing ideas and civilized debates. And if somebody doesn't feel confident doing any work or mod, or to think what a mod will involve (both risks and amount of work), then they should just resume at reading. I think there would be plenty benefit on having a crd modification subforum (maybe under the crd tech), for any typical crd "custom"/non OEM ideas. That would be a good place to have a provent install walkthrough for example, or custom muffler, e-fans, etc).

I am glad there is interest in the idea of doing this but i was kinda trying to gear it more towards a crd specific "this is what i have done today." BUT either way works. I know there are tutorials to certain typical mods, but say someone decides to build an intake and wants to post it, or maybe cooling system mods.

Send a PM to tonycrd, he will most likely do a sticky if you ask?
