Have ORM, & error for bad glow plug. No check engine light.

Guess, dash light out? Upon 'key on', I don't see 'engine in profile' CEL lamp. Many lamps don't light in dado on key-on, so maybe CEL does not, either.

Would dead CEL lamp be sufficient to disable cruise control? I can 'on' cruise, but not Set.

Did you buy it used? Maybe previous owner or dealer disabled it for sales purpose, sort of like they did on the one I bought used?

What flman said^^^^

It is not uncommon for previous owners or dealers to pry off the LED behind the cluster for the CEL light to make a sale.

The CEL light not displaying will not stop your cruise control from working but the error that the CEL is trying to tell you about may be the problem.

You need to remove the cluster and take it apart to see if the CEL LED, and other LEDs, have been pryed off or covered up and either repair the problem or get another cluster from a breaker yard.

Otherwise you may one day get a catastrophic error and you will keep driving on because no CEL has warned you! :(

All the active lights in the cluster should come on briefly when the key is first turn on. Alternatively invoke the instrument cluster test (see both FSMs) by holding the trip odometer button while turning the ignition on. It will cycle through all bulbs and gauges.

If bulbs are dead for whatever reason the dealer will try to sell you an entire new cluster for big $s or you can pull the cluster yourself and invest in some $2 LED which can be soldered in to replace the dead bulbs. I can email instructions with pics if you email me.

Thank you for the responses. I did the light test, and CEL is not on. Why it is "gone" does not matter, I will fix. I would rather put electrical tape on the cluster cover, than have it "off". With tape, I can still see if there is an error condition.

What voltage LED?
edit..., answer, 3.3v.

PRevious to my purchase, someone had twisted the CEL diode from the IC board. Radio Shack LED, needle-nose Vice Grips for heat sink, solder pencil, and papaindigo docs; CEL as obnoxious as ever.
