My accelerator sensor was replaced just last year but the new sensor (pedal) is getting sticky. I was wondering if anyone has successfully fixed this problem or has any ideas about what kind of lubricant will work best. Already tried Vaseline. Worked great at first but it has since started sticking. |

See viewtopic.php?f=98&t=76222 I've had no problems since August 2013. You probably need to use something like carb or brake cleaner to remove the Vaseline as that's greasy and will tend to attract/hold dust/sand and make things worse, before applying silicone spray. I suspect powdered graphite, like what's used to lube door locks and such that are exposed to freezing temps., would work also. |

Tried graphite, didn't seem to help. The unit seems to not have any lubrication. |

It has no lubrication. As far as I can tell there is an internal return spring and the surfaces are plastic on plastic which should not need lubrication. However if those surfaces get a bit dirty/gritty the spring will not "snap" the pedal back when it's released hence the engine keeps in higher revs as the pedal slowly comes back or maybe you even have to stick you toe under the pedal and pull back. Any "wet" lube (oil, grease, Vaseline, etc.) in this area will only make things worse as the lube attracts more crud. In my case a thorough cleaning with much flexing in a vice followed by dry spray silicone lube solved the problem. My pedal continues to snap back just as it should. Another alternative to a new pedal assembly is to add a spring attached below the pivot point running up to an attachment point under the dash somewhere. Not advising that approach but it is viable and was used in the old days on pedals that had a direct wire connection to the throttle assembly on the engine. |

Sand paper did the trick. It was relatively fine. Like 300ish. |
