Here's one I have never seen. CEL came on when my Son started it after work today. He stopped at Advance and checked for codes. None found. He drove it home with no running issues. Nothing is out of place. Anyone seen this? Thanks KJJET |

I think it goes back to CRD software issues there are some codes that normal readers can't read - takes the dealership scanner. also I do have glitches where my code reader won't read a code - but it will after I turn it off and restart it will. |

I was thinking code reader issue, but I never had anyone say they had this issue. Maybe the Jeep is trying to tell me something? Like replace me!! Sometimes I wish it would just blowup. |

Possibly a phantom CEL. This happens with mine as a soft code only. If no codes are indicated as hard and they are just soft codes it will self clear after 5 warm-up cycles meaning it was a one - off incident or a glitch in software. It would need to be interrogated more deeply. Generic power train readers don't delve sufficiently deeply and an enhanced reader is needed. I think there is an issue with these vehicles - total agreement with ATXKJ. From reading over a long time it seems these occurrences are corrected when the vehicle is reprogrammed with the GDE programmes but I am still saving for that. I get these too particularly when it is started often when doing a shopping run. and only when doing that. AE tells me it is my key engine starting too quickly and my key / skim acts too fast. |

There are codes that require Starscan to read. DOC |

After 4 starts the CEL is still on. I'm going to try and use a different reader. Thanks KJJET |

I use a SCANGAUGE to read and clear codes on my CRD. A little more expensive than some code readers, but I've been able to use it on my other vehicles for instantaneous fuel mileage and monitoring system parameters. |

Has it been run through 5 complete warm up cycles since the CEL appeared? If it hasn't self cleared it is possibly either recurring or is a hard code. At times the battery disconnect will not clear all CEL's as there is enough charge stored in the capacitor bank to retain memory but the ECU will clear the code itself after 5 warm-up cycles as long as it is a soft code that doesn't recur. It all comes back to the depth of the code. The trouble with the battery disconnect is it goes into relearn each time. Sometimes there is enough to keep it stored in KAM (Keep Alive Memory) for whatever reason. |

The cheapo readers at auto zone won't read glow plug issues.. Pull the Bosch relay behind the battery and check the resistance to the negative battery terminal.. If one is over 1.5 ohms on a cold engine it is a gp code Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk |

I had a glow plug issue a few months ago and the Advance Auto reader read the CEL. So i replaced all of them with the Steel 7V. I scheduled a Dealer appointment to have the code read. That's it. I'm letting them touch anything. Thanks KJJET |

Could be a transmission code. If I use a basic scanner I can't see trans codes but if I use my VAG-COM software it sees them. Weird that a Volkswagen Audi scanner can see other controllers on a Chrysler product but then I thought it might have something to do with the VW minivan made by Chrysler. (all the other times i had a GP issue the code reader at Advance auto worked) That cost me $95.00 from the Steelership!! I should have done what you suggested. My bad. So now i remove the Glow plug Module and #1, 2 and 4 read 7 ohms with a warm engine. The #3 however reads VERY High Mega ohms. So now i am tearing down things to get to the #3. To see if i have a bad plug or bad wiring. Will update later. |

Verified I have a Etecno 7V glow plug bad. It has been installed less than 2 months. All the wiring checks good. I went over 100k on the OEM Ceramic 7V plugs. I don't know what to think? I sent a warranty inquire to ID Parts. Will update. |
