Can anyone offer information about calibrating the injectors with the ECM on 2005, 2.7 CRD? I pulled all four injectors and sent them out for testing. They were marked and re-installed into the same cylinder they were removed from. The manual states that when an injector is removed it needs to be re synched with the ECM via the code on the top. I am thinking this is due to the possibility they may be placed into a different cylinder by mistake, for how would the ECM know they were removed or not? Anyway the manual indicates possible running problems such as hard start or poor running which is what I have been experiencing since it was done. I know what the manual says to do, I am just trying to understand why is it necessary.

Thanks for any comments

A 2005 Liberty with a 2,7? I think you mean the 2,8 CRD?

If they were originally programmed correctly and you put them back in the same locations then you're good.
I think a DRBIII is required to program the code into the PCM.

I think the serial numbers are on the bar code on the timing cover. Listed cyl. 1 thru 4. After I replaced 2 of mine with used ones it made no difference before or after the ecu was calibrated.

Same injector same hole no issue. Mixing injector #4 plug with the identical fuel rail plug = no run.

Somewhere around here, if memory serves, there is a GDE comment to the effect that while programming the ECU for specific injectors in specific holes is desirable that failure to do so has only a small impact on mpg.
