Any chance of swinging through the STL Metro area? I'm an hr west of St. Louis along I-44 and now of 2 locally that need theirs done?

Ok... 2 plus yours, or 2 including yours?

It certainly is possible, now is the time for the planning, it won't ever be cheaper for a special trip! I'll have to have a sit-down with my map, but I was already planning to go back east on 40.

Send me a PM (and if the others are members, have them do likewise) and I can add you to the map.

I tackled mine on my own last Summer. My folks have an '06 with 90K on it and my buddies folks have 65K or so on theirs. Neither are members on here. I've been trying to convince them to do the TB now based on age not miles. I-40 goes through STL at least. I could provide a bay to work out of on a weekend but I'm an hr West off I-44 in Stanton, MO.

Planning is coming along!

Now that it is February, I hope everyone had a great Superbowl Sunday, and that their parts are arriving or already waiting. I'm figuring out the logistics for the trip, so I will be sending out messages to everyone in the next few days to let everyone know the updated travel costs. I will be asking for a deposit from everyone to confirm your place, and this will (of course) be applied to the total amount.

To help spread things out cost-wise, and because this trip is so much longer than the last one, I will be asking for a $200 deposit. This will be refundable if you feel you need to cancel, anytime until March 15th. Right now, it looks like I will be leaving a few days after that, probably around the 24th or so (dates are still soft) and get to the first CRD in Austin in the morning 3 days later.

If anyone else is on the fence, NOW is the time! Currently, I have the following on the schedule:
2 in Austin
1 in Scottsdale
2 in LA
1 in Wichita (after my conference in Vegas, so somewhere around the 13th of April)
1 West of St Louis
1 in Chatanooga.

Over 6000 miles and close to 3 weeks! This will be an epic trip. If you are still waffling, get in on this!

Jim, if you can give us an approximate calendar for the different legs of your journey, that would be great for planning purposes. (I am assuming I'm one of your 2 LA folks since we've talked about it, if not, put me on!)

Yep, you are one of the LA stops, and the tentative calendar is what I will be working up for everyone in the next few days.

Any discount if we can do both L.A. belts at the same location and same time? I'm pretty mechanical and would actually try this on my own but I figure since an "Expert" is available why not learn from him. If there is a local where we could face both Libertys nose-to-nose and I mimic Geordi's every move (I get we probably only have one set of pins and cam gear locking device) but it seems we could slam through these lickety split.

Comments?

Jr Explorer, do you have a place where this might be possible? We can get away with one at my condo, but not two. My parents place might be a possibility though.

Here is the tentative schedule, I have messaged a couple members so far, I will get messages to everyone shortly.

Austin Texas: 29th and 30th of March
Scottsdale, Az: April 2nd
LA: April 4th and 5th (possibly both on the 4th or 5th - I'm OK with this, more in the messages)
My conference in Vegas from the 7th to the 10th
Wichita, Ks: April 13th
Stanton / St Louis Mo: 14th and possibly 15th
Chattanooga, Tn: 16th

Travel costs currently work out to $375 each, which is a fantastic deal considering the length of this trip!

For the deposits: I am asking $200 to confirm your place on the calendar, Paypal using the "friends and family" option avoids the fees and is fully refundable until March 15th. The deposit will be applied toward the total labor/travel bill, so if you wanted to pre-pay more, that is OK too.

UPDATED tentative schedule, I have messaged a couple members so far, and they haven't picked up their messages. PLEASE CHECK YOUR PMs.

Austin Texas: 29th and 30th of March
Scottsdale, Az: April 2nd - DEPOSIT AND CONFIRMED.
LA: April 4th and 5th
My conference in Vegas from the 7th to the 10th - This is locked.
Albuquerque, Nm: April 12th (
Wichita, Ks: 13th
Omaha, Ne: 14th, to possibly include Sioux Falls, SD
Chicago / Detroit or somewhere between: 15th? (Check your messages!)
Stanton / St Louis Mo: 16th and possibly 17th (Check your messages!)
Chattanooga, Tn: 18th

Travel costs currently work out to $375 each, which is a fantastic deal considering the length of this trip!

For the deposits: I am asking $200 to confirm your place on the calendar, Paypal using the "friends and family" option avoids the fees and is fully refundable until March 15th. The deposit will be applied toward the total labor/travel bill, so if you wanted to pre-pay more, that is OK too.

As you can see, this is quite the schedule and a HUGE trip. However... I can't lock anything in until I know you are solid, and the deposit is my way to do that. I realize that I am "just a guy from the internet" to all of you, and that's OK... Thats what you are to me too! 8)

I unfortunately had one timing job for this weekend fall through, and I haven't heard from the member in days. I was just a few hours from getting in the car and incurring $120 just in fuel to drive from South Florida to him, when a parallel (TV) gig ALSO fell through due to a miscommunication. Luckily, I hadn't left yet for either one. Neither of these jobs had given me anything of a deposit either, so there wasn't any "skin in the game" for them to pull out without telling me. The TV gig was helping a friend for cost, so I didn't even get the benefit of a cancellation fee that I would normally get from other TV jobs that fall through like that. (It happens more than you might think for a variety of reasons)

I'm self-employed, and the winter is one of my low points during the year for my other work in TV and film. I can't absorb the costs of this trip without knowing everyone is as serious as I am. I would hate to lose the opportunity to meet and help any of you, but without the deposits, your space is not ensured. Thank you for reading this.

Hello Tim, welcome to the forum. Just a hint if you haven't used forums like this before - when you hit the "quote" button and it puts up a copy of what the previous post was, you want to put your message after the last [/quote] tag. I managed to find what you typed though, so let me answer your question.

I have to work up the route, and I will send you a private message with more information... But the answer is "maybe."
You certainly are overdue for it by mileage, and I will see what I can do to make it happen.

Just FIVE weeks to go!

Please note: If I have not received a deposit from you yet, YOUR PLACE IS NOT ASSURED! I would hate to lose anyone on this trip, I want to meet and help all of you. However, I need to be able to plan and reserve hotels and routes in advance to save everyone the maximum amount of time and travel money. Your deposit is fully refundable until March 15th, but if you choose to send in the deposit after March 15th, it will need to be $400 instead. Anyone that has not gotten a deposit in to me before March 22nd, WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE LIST. Please don't make me do that!

Thanks for reading. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to send me a PM. I'm on here at least once a day, usually a lot more.
