Before I change the rear main seal on my 2.8 (I have dripping from between the transmission adaptor & block) how do I confirm the CCV is working correctly & I am not getting excessive crank compression? thanks |

There's not much to the CCV puck itself, just a spiral passage that is supposed to allow vapor to condense and drain back that doesn't really work very well. It comes off with a few bolts into the manifold/valve-cover. It sits right on top of the valvetrain near cylinder 4, so as long as there's nothing blocking airflow through it (quick puff of breath with it taken off would confirm that), then it should be functioning normally. Temporarily putting it into a catch bottle, plugging the elbow on the intake, and a short drive under normal operating temps would also confirm if you're getting crank gasses out. Dan |

yup, i did a small wrote up of what it looks like. Super simple and almost impossible to clog up. |

Yeah, they don't really clog up, but they can seep or leak. I replaced mine because it was seeping. Was not expensive. I took the old one apart, and there is not much to it... |

Simple. If its original type install just remove the CCV discharge hose at the turbo charger intake. While running the amount of air flow from it should match the amount of air coming from the oil service cap when removed. Good luck KJJET |
