My left rear window starting making a popping noise during this cold streak when it gets to the fully closed position only. Otherwise, it works fine up and down. Know this is a sign of something needs replacing! So what do I need to order to repair; just a regulator, repair kit, or whole assembly with motor? Part numbers(s) etc... :?
Bet some of you have been down this road before!
thanks,

Yeah, others have and I have just joined the list of victims. I think papaindigo pointed in the right direction and I've ordered mine, putting it in this weekend. Although, my window just dropped a bit and I found it wouldn't close electrically and since there was a noise that was enough for me. :banghead:

For $19 and free shipping, I would try this:

I am assuming the drive gear is slipping on the drive rod due to the plastic part that holds it to the regulator drive? :?:
Have not taken it apart yet and did not want to till I had parts in hand. Window is still working ok, just making a popping or slipping noise when it hits the fully closed position
There are quite a few solutions listed for this problem and I was not sure which one I needed. :?
Ordered it & thanks

Well this is the usual part that breaks.
Since you are going in anyway, you might as well replace it, even if you find you need something else.

Man I wish I had been a little more patient in researching this. What a price difference, oh well, if the right one goes... :!:

They also had a kit for all 4 Windows for $19 so I grabbed two of them.

i just today did both of the rear windows , with these , the only problem I had was the clip would not hold the window locked in I had to take a piece of 12g copper wire and wire them together , did not figure out the difference between the OEM plastic one and this metal one , adding the wire worked and this will not break , I will be getting another set for on 05

Whoa, that's a crazy price. I think they must have made a mistake since this set is usually about $70.

I thought I had the same problem. But then I put the clip on metal hole first. It works better that way.

Update: Finely pulled the regulator out to see what was making the popping sound at full close; it was the drive gear slipping on the cable. Both looked to be worn! Nothing was wrong with the part that attached to the window glass frame. So the part that some said I needed and I ordered off Ebay was not the problem. :banghead:

So I bought a new complete regulator with motor from AutoZone for $119 and it comes with a lifetime warranty so if it ever fails again, no cost to me….
Bought one of those Bondo Dent Puller Suction cups to hold the window glass up while the regulator was out, worked like a champ.

Took me about 30 minutes to replace the left rear regulator, not a bad job.

You still may have this issue in the future. So keep it.
