Anybody have any idea where to look to solve this problem. A week ago the chime started going off randomly while driving, maybe 3 or 4 beeps and then it stops. Also the ESP/ABS/ and traction control lights are on continuously and the cruise control has stopped working. Where is the Vehicle speed sensor located? Thought that may be it or maybe wiring. Do you think the chime is related or do I have two problems that started at the same time? I changed the switch actuator in the steering column a few months ago after it failed and created a no start situation. There are no codes in the computer and it runs fine with no issues. Thanks for you help.

Did you hook it up to the big expensive scanner at a dealer? If your abs light is on then 100% theres a abs code which cant be pulled by the home scanners. Thing about the abs it could be your hubs, hub sensors, wires, abs pump. All expensive to just randomly replace.

The local dealership will help

the 2006 has had a problem with rear abs sensor wires breaking, check along the rear axle where the wire branches off to each wheel. R

I am in the same boat with the lights on the dash. Yesterday I ran through this handy test to verify the wiring harness is good. http://liberty.eurekaboy.com/abstest.htm
I have already replaced all 4 wheel speed sensors on my rig mainly cause the front needed replaced anyhow. As for the test in the link, Pins 44 and 45 are for the left front speed sensor and 35 and 34 are for the right front. Forgive me if i have them mixed up. I was honestly dissapointed to find that my harness was good cause it would be a much easier fix. Now im to the point where I am going to clean my wheel hubs if possible cause i cant afford to replace them at the moment. On occasion my lights will be off when i start it up, then i drive a short distance and the abs module and traction control starts going beserk not allowing me to drive safely. I just unplugged a sensor real quick to make it driveable to get home safe. If i come up with any solutions to this issue on my vehicle i will let you know. I hear the rear harness tends to get messed up in between the diff and the wheels. With any luck this is your case.

Thanks for the help. I have not hooked up to a Dealer scanner just my home small scanner and it has no codes. I will check the wiring to the rear wheels and hopefully that will solve the problem. Thanks for the link Anchorism.

Not a problem. I found it pretty useful even though I still have all three lights on. I think im going to try cleaning the hubs next if i can actually get to that point on them.

Bear in mind that the 2006 CRD has a known problem where the fuel filter mounting bracket can crush the harness that goes behind it and cause a short to ground.

Any funny wiring problems on the 2006 CRD and it is worth removing this bracket and have a look for damaged cables!

Yes the unit that has the filter, water-in-fuel sensor and fuel heater.
For the 2006 CRD they moved the fuel filter mounting bracket a bit higher up to make space for a larger ABS unit apparently....they did not notice that now the bracket can pinch to chassis the large wire harness entering the cabin through the firewall in that spot.

This is relevant to this thread although only as far as the 2006 model goes  ...basically any electrical problem on a 2006 CRD needs this to be checked out!

Had the same problem on my 06, even went as fas as getting a new rear harness for it. Didn't solve it. Ended up being the front left speed sensor and has been fine ever since. If anyone is looking for a used rear OE harness pm me...

I got the problem fixed, all lights are out. Turned out to be the wiring to the rear drivers wheel sensor. I took wiring for both rear sensors off the sensors and used a staple to jump across the connector. Then I removed the bottom of the back seat to access the wiring harness as per the link previously posted. I tested the faulty wiring about 4" back from the sensor and it was fine so I just cut a small piece out, soldered, test and put it back together. Thanks for the help.
