On Sunday when I went out to plow snow, my John Deere must have been a little gelled as it stalled. I took a look at the filter that is in a clear housing and it looked a little cloudy like wax, so I put some more anti gel in and continued to plow.

Today I took my Sprinter out of the shop and it started shaking the entire dash board for a while. So I dropped in into low gear and continued on, I was pretty sure it was gelling. After a quick stop, I headed up the highway and it was in LHM, max I could get was 45, so I pulled over and shut it down and restarted. It has been just fine since then. I checked for codes in the Ultragauge and no codes, and no CEL?

We had below zero weather a couple of nights, and I already put the Stynadine additive in the NCV3, but I think I did it when I got to the shop last week, so it never got a chance to mix in?

I used some Howes in the tractor, before and after the problem, but I guess it is not as good as Stynadine?

Got off easy for quite a few years. Looks like those easy years are gone for a while. So much for winter blends, I will not trust them. :2cents:

I run Power Service in all of my diesels, white bottle in winter, silver in summer. I have only had an issue one time at -22F, and that was not even with my car. That was with my friends MB ML320CDI when it was brand new a few years ago. He gelled up. I tried to convince him to run PS, but he insists that MB advises against it, and said it is not necessary. I think running a higher concentration, the colder it is, is probably a safe bet. I have not had any gelling with the CRD, and I have started it down to about -10. It is plugged in at that point... if it was not, it wouldn't start thanks to the poor glow plug design...

I had the name wrong, power service white bottle winter only. I did not realize I had 6 bottles stored in my shop, and picked up the Howes as a last resort at Chinazone cause it was the weekend and all the real auto parts supplies were closed..
