Just got this month's DP Mag in. Articles include

Ram 1500 vs Ram 2500
Banks 630T engine
Timing belt on a KJ

Lots of reading to do!

Read the article on the timing belt change. Not too bad. Keith and GDE got a good plug.

Article on the Ram was informative. They were impressed. One thing I noticed is that it got hot towing on a 7% grade. They were also towing over GCVWR and tow rating. But they were towing a vehicle, which has a lot less drag than a travel trailer.

I am excited that they put the Diesel in the 1500 ram. That's a vehicle i could consider after jeep(hopefully in a million miles), but I am also excited to see this new 2.7L ecoboost ford is putting in the F-150. Its an iron block, so the thing should be stout and they can make big hp numbers in comparison to a diesel while still getting good torque down low. I read an article where an exhaust/tune only 3.5L ecoboost was making like 516ft/lbs at the wheels @ 2700 rpm(yes higher than a diesel, but still very usable) and 341 whp. Not something a diesel is going to be doing.

That's because the diesel doesn't NEED to be doing 341 whp (which will be at the top end anyway) to get 500+ TQ numbers. Give me the Banks 630T. It's more likely to be running down the road after the gasser has blown up. According to the Banks engineers, the 630T has 600 HP potential in race form. They're forecasting for an engine with around 500 lb-ft, 240 HP, which is more than enough to get the job done and hold up under workload, as well as be durable. The VM is compacted graphite iron, about 500lb, so it doesn't weigh in like old-school diesels, but has the strength of one. http://assets.bankspower.com.s3.amazona ... lPower.pdf
