After many close calls through the years, my luck finally ran out again. ![]() I almost came to a stop, but the plastic grill, bumper, fog light, etc. at 12 degrees shattered when hitting the deer. So I'm back to considering buying an ARB Bull Bar. I really liked the one that I had put on my 98 Grand Cherokee. I just don't like the idea of hauling around the extra 200# of weight, and obviously the $1350 price tag. From the ARB advertising picture, it looks as if the bumper covers the bottom part of the grill opening. Does anyone know if will make using my FIA grill cover difficult? What are others using out there, any opinions. |

After reviewing the installation instruction, I have answered my own questions about the grill opening/FIA cover. http://store.arbusa.com/Assets/PDF/3450120i.pdf Definitely a heavy duty piece of hardware, but I'm going to explore other options. |

The ARB bumper without a winch is only 90lbs,adding the winch adds the extra weight reaching over 200lbs but you can drop the total weight to around 150lbs with a winch by ditching the steel cable and replacing with a synthetic rope. |

Thanks for clarifying that for me, the advertised shipping weight of 200# seemed too high. I didn't think that my Grand Cherokee ARB was that heavy, but it sure sagged out the stock springs after a few years. |

The whine from my turbo makes them run scared. Fifth vehicle turbocharged, and never a close call with our White tails.... |

I prefer one of my rifles for the slaying of deer, weighs much less than an ARB bumper up front. However, I do see the convenience of deer hunting without getting out of the vehicle, and the deductible is probably less than i spend on gas to and from the big woods each year......On a serious note, have you shopped around at some local fab shops? My friends have had some serious cow catchers built from scratch for odd vehicles before for not much cash. Definitely not as pretty as an ARB, but hey, they do the trick. And we catch moose more than deer up here in the grill. |

Straight piping the exhaust would never pass the safety inspection here. Also, I'm getting older and I find the loud, throaty exhaust annoying anymore. Been there done that ![]() I like the deer rifle humor. We have more whitetails here than can be possibly shot, or run over. Here is another bull bar guard. Not as heavy, but not as much protection. Not sure that I like the bug antenna look. http://jeepinbyal.com/jeep-liberty-kj/4 ... guard.html |
