My brothers CRD seems to have killed the block heater. Any ideas where I can find a replacement. Thanks. Tom |

CRD Joe wrote: My brothers CRD seems to have killed the block heater. Any ideas where I can find a replacement. Thanks. Tom I did a little searching and came up with this part number: 56044738AA. It looks like there are a bunch of dodge vehicles that use it including the gasser version of the liberty. Napa had one for $25, but didn't specifically mention the diesel engine. Otherwise, there are plenty of online dealers that have it for $50ish. |

55037539AA is the viscous heater, top front passenger side of the engine, connected by hoses to the tstat and cabin heater core. 56044738AA is the block heater, low down on drivers side of the engine, with a 3 prong electric wire so it can be plugged into house power. This is a common DCJ block heater that likely can be sourced from like NAPA. I suspect but don't know for sure that the actual heater element is the same as one in a household water heater in which case check it for continuity, if present element is ok so check wire, if not present element is dead. I also suspect the element comes without the wire which can be had from NAPA (KAT 28400) for like $20 and probably should be replaced at the same time. |
