Anyone know where the rear diff/axle housing breather connects? I noticed mine hanging down the other day next to the driver side rear wheel. Gotta get under and take a closer look, but is there more than one breather? It seems to be connected to the axle housing, as opposed to the top of the pumpkin, where I would expect... Thanks in advance! |

There is only one vent tube, see Figure 3-310 of the 06 parts fiche, which shows a clip somewhere at the upper end that holds the tube "up". Don't know where exactly the clip is and it's too wet right now to crawl under and look. If no one answers by say noon tomorrow shot me a PM or email and I'll look. |

The reason it's connected to the axle (and not the diff) is simple convenience. The inside of the tubes and the pumpkin have oil (and vapors) flowing freely between them, so it makes sense to only have one. I suspect the reason for the location is so that if there's any oil spewage, it is by the fuel filler chamber, which is already designed to keep oily stuff out of dangerous places (like the interior). The clip is located just beneath the filler hole plate and you can access it by removing the bolts from the plate and just placing it to the side. The little check-valve on the end can be removed and re-inserted in a like-sized tube. You can also get up behind the filler plate from the back of the wheel well (sort or up inside the bumper cover. I extended mine by a couple feet with a length of fuel hose of the same diameter and a double brass barbed fitting. You can tie-wrap it up behind the filler and leave the check-valve up inside the body panel. Lash it to something, though, or it'll rattle around and might drive your rear-seat passengers crazy. Cool...thanks. On my last truck (Suzuki), it went into the interior jack compartment, where it's nice and dry. I'll take a look around the fuel filler plate and figure out where to connect it...maybe I'll extend it sometime as well. |

It attaches to the fuel tank skid plate on the driver's side forward mount.. between the tank and skid plate bracket arm. At least that is were the one on mine is attached at |
