86K and it looks like I have a blown head gasket. I'll likely fix it along with the timing belt and sell it, I'll replace it with a toyota 4runner. Life's too short to deal with junk. I love the thought of a jeep diesel but the VM motor isn't reliable. I've got a 99 dodge/cummins with 385k on it and no internal engine work. My last toyota camry I traded at 299,700 miles and it was running great, never had any engine work. 86k to a blown headgasket on a stock engine is stupid. The fuel savings of a diesel at 25 mpg don't mean much when it can get 20 out of a gas 4runner on fuel that's $.50 a gallon cheaper and have a vehicle that's reliable to boot.

I bought my crd with 166000 miles. I love this jeep but I now have 172k
And I have changed the thermostat and I have 2 glow plugs burned out. Plus my dash lights look like a Christmas tree due to an abs sensor is out. Don't know which one yet.

I have 4 new glow plugs here just waiting on ordering a egr bypass kit since I have to take it apart to change the glow plugs.

We will see what happens next. But it runs good and I like it. Seems to be losing some power lately though.

Instead of the EGR Bypass...do the GDE Tune...worth every penny
(I am still running the SEGR Kit but I also have the GDE Hot Tune)

:D have an 06. bought at 27,000km. Now has 308,000 km = 192,500 miles. Did the EHM and ORM at around 40,000 km. Installed a 1.5" old man emu lift at 10,000 km. Really no issues at all, Alternator pulley replaced, oil changed every 10,000 km, tranny oil and filter changed every summer. Put an inline thermostat in a couple years ago. I do have a seal leak on the front of the engine somewhere but wont bother with it until i do the timing belt/water pump again at 320,000 km.

The turbo hoses cracked and EGR had already failed at around 50k
The water pump leaked at 72k. While it was apart, I had the timing belt replaced.
Three window regulators failed. Thank goodness for Steiger. The dealer wanted 300 plus to replace the whole unit including the motor, when the only thing broken was a plastic unit holding the glass.
The A-arms and lower ball joints were replaced at around 90k.
The lifters/rocker arms failed at 108k and flattened the cams. Two glow plugs had previously failed, so I replaced them as well.

As a counterpoint, our 2002 Nissan Xterra V6/manual is getting close to 170k, with one repair (headliner sag), and one minor recall (fuel level sender).

Karma bit me arse on this one... not even 3 hours after posting this, my daughter (who has the Xterra at college with her) called to say it wouldn't start.

Eventually, after waiting a half hour, it fired right up and is running fine.......

That's why I'm not commenting on this post. I did that once and within the week the Jeep dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. $600+ later I had a new forward body control module and several wire grounds fixed.
