Karma bit me arse on this one... not even 3 hours after posting this, my daughter (who has the Xterra at college with her) called to say it wouldn't start.
Eventually, after waiting a half hour, it fired right up and is running fine.......
That's why I'm not commenting on this post. I did that once and within the week the Jeep dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. $600+ later I had a new forward body control module and several wire grounds fixed.
