Thanks to all who reply:

My 05 CRD will not Start, I was driving and it suddenly lost power and would not start back up. I have had trouble with the inter cooler hoses before, so I replaced those with a silicone set- thinking that perhaps my repairs had failed. Silicone hoses, fuel head primed, still no start, not even a sputter. Just cranks to no avail.

I've had trouble with the filter head before, leaking air and such.- went to the dealership today, picked up my parts, installed, bled, nothing but fuel out the bleeder- still will not fire up.

Before I posted this, I used the search feature and found that, most things stem back to fuel head- since I've changed that and bled it, I'm pretty sure it isn't an issue now. Other posts where people had similar issues just seem to fall off, as if they fixed it but never posted the solution.

Also, cleaned the MAP

Thanks in advance for any information. Or moral support.

Assuming you bled the fuel head by pumping until hard then stop pumping, cracking bleeder, close bleeder, repeat until no more air comes out it's probably not air in the fuel.

Is you CEL working (e.g. comes on briefly when you switch the ignition on) if so is the CEL on when running? If it's not on you need to check your crank position sensor. See viewtopic.php?f=5&t=66905 . An easy DIY check with basic hand tools, a heat source, and a volt/ohm meter.

For location see picture 8 at viewtopic.php?f=98&t=74594

I have a similar situation.

My 05 would't start this morning either

I have had my TB done and recently had my crank sensor replaced.

It is acting like the crank sensor again :banghead:

and in less than two tanks even .

I am still working on it and will report on what I find.

My Jeep is at 86k now .

Papaindigo, thank you for the information. I changed the crankshaft position sensor- still won't start. Any other suggestions on where to go from here, greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the information thus far.

Well- so much excite. Really at wits end- my neighbor and I tested the glow plug module- and heard audible bits inside- and now for your viewing pleasure: the inside of a fried glow plug module.Image

OK, try this.....

Disconnect the battery for a few minutes and see if the ECU will reset.

I believe that if the glow plug controller or glow plug was the culprit, the cell light would come on.

Appreciate the suggestion. I guess we posted at the same time- glow plug resistance good- glow plug module has blackened transistors.

I finally got a code scanner on it- since it wouldn't run I had no means to see if the CEL was on- since it's always on in the run position? I think....

Have you reset the Electronic control unit?

Here is another thing to check.

Is your battery charged and capable to do the following.

1. Turn over the engine and also have enough power left over to power the ECU and all the other devcices that are part of the computer system?

2. Is your alternator putting out enough of a charge?

I believe that 12.8 - 13.3 volts is what you need at the battery before you turn the key.

Some other member may know the correct voltage and possibly respond.

Well this morning went out to crank the princess and she fired right up after being plugged in all night.

The block temp was 92 ambient was 60, also I had the battery on charge, I also will add ,I had jumper cables helping yesterday and scan gauge was showing 12.8 to 13.1

This afternoon late when I got back home ,cranked again no problemo.

The mornings it would not crank ambient temp was closer to 35 .could it be that temp sensitive

I will keep my eye on the battery

:BINGO: Its the battery . She starts when warm enough for good cranking amps and enough left for hungry ECU.

This CRD would not be feasible with out this forum.

thanks racertracer this forum rocks
