Greetings, just bought 2005 CRD off eBay. Happy happy happy.

Inline thermostat already installed. Hmm. Pulled ORM plug out and no CEL. Double hmm. Slight up-down idle rpm fluctuation when cold. Quick rpm spike at start then normal. 26.5 mpg from Jersey to Maine in horrible driving.

Do these factors indicate someone already mapped the ECU? Any way to find out? With rear main seal, all suspension, TB, and as yet undiscovered delights to tackle, I'd like to avoid paying for a map that's already there!

A word of thanks and appreciation to all. This seems to be a wonderful community of helpers and I've noticed no monkeys throwing poo. THANKS in advance!!

The CEL should come on during startup, does it?

Great idea on emailing VIN to GDE. Will do.

CEL does come on briefly then goes out at startup.

Thanks all very much.

Sounds like you have a GDE tune. Which one, only Keith can tell you.
