Post subject:  airtex lift pump finally mounted...

the pump with ready to use harness had been taking dust since months in the basement...
Then I finally decided to go for it.

For the harness I chose to add a hoe and a ground to a brand new Diesel harness, I though that it could not hurt to get a new one and that I still had the old one if I s...something up.
No problems to mount the 2 new wires through the black flexible hose.

As I have a Mopar tank skid, it took me additional time to drop it as the bolts are not really easy to reach.

Here are 2 advices to disconnect the fuel lines:
1)
In order to drop the fuel tank, you need to disconnect the fuel lines. There are 2 "quick-disconnects" on each fuel line.
One set of quick disconnect links the fuel line to the pump. This set is very hard to reach as it is one the top of the tank.

Another set of quick disconnect is in front of the tank:
This set is much easier to reach:

2) As explained in the very well made guides, in order to disconnect the lines you need to press hard on a clip on the side on the "quick-disconnect". I found very hard to fully press this clip fully. I found easier to do the following: Place a screw driver on the clip, perpendicular to the fuel line, and then use a plier to compress the whole thing: quick disconnect and screw-driver. this allows the button to be fully compress and the release the disconnect. Take a rather small size screw-driver. It take a bit of patience but it works well.

Also, as mentioned in the write-up, you should manage to easily fit the new seal if you leave it a few seconds under hot tab water. I did this, and it got in with only a few taps.

Here is the new pump mounted:

It took me 4 hours, and I did this alone.

Sure the engine runs much smoothly, accelerations are crisp. I still have to adapt my driving to see if I can drop the gas consumption...

yes correct, i used the E7181M from Airtex. (I cut out a large part of the lip on the pump and also installed the old floater on the Airtex)

For wires, i had purchased a Diesel set, a gasser one and some female and male 2.8mm connector pins.
i removed 2 wires from the new Gasser harness, and added them as a ground and a hot wire to the new Diesel harness.
You only have to exctend a bit the ground in order to reach a ground spot under the seat. I added 15cm.
