Post subject:  NEED HELP. CRD P0090 code

Hello, i just replaced all the rockers and complete timing belt kit..
Had no check engine light before that..
Just bought the car and did this job because prevoius owner didnt do it
2005 crd 113k miles..

The engine runs great , however it is in Limp mode.. Check engine code P0090.
I have checked all the clipc and cleand all the fuel clips...

There are two Identical Clips that are in the same spot.. Can someone Verify that i have pluged them in correctly...

1st clip is the 4th injector Clip, the wire has a Original tag stating 4 INJ ... Im assuming that means that this plug is for the 4th injector...

2nd Clip which is identical to the Injector clip, Clips into the Fuel Quantity solenoid.

I did Purge the fuel at the Fuel Filter.. After the install and the Engine runs good.. Just in Limp mode with only this Code.. PLEASE HELP...

Other's may know better than me but I'll get the ball rolling.
1. pop over to Sir Sam's NOOB guide and folllow the link to the 06 FSM which has the codes and associated diagnostics that the 05 FSM lacks, might or might not help.
2. according to my notes P0090-FUEL QUANTITY SOLENOID OPEN CIRCUIT
3. I know from past discussion that the #4 injector plug and a nearby sensor plug are identical (I'm not sure which sensor/solenoid as there are 2 in the same general area - fuel rail pressure sensor (assuming it's the sensor on the side of the fuel rail) 515963AA or Bosch 0281002534 and fuel rail or fuel pressure solenoid/valve (assuming it's the one on the end of the fuel rail) 5159964AA or Bosch 0281002705) but IIRC if the plugs are reversed the engine won't fire.

Assuming the above is correct my initial thought would be a not properly seated plug as opposed to a reversed plug. Remove plug(s) check for dirty terminals, apply some dielectric grease just because, replug and see what happens. Also since the fuel rail was open it takes a bit of running to fully purge air from the rail.

If you have not found the problem yet you may want to check this. P0090 an open circuit at the fuel quantity valve, This is located on the back of the injection pump itself. If you removed this plug during your repair you may not have gotten it fully on and locked when reconnected, thus creating an open. What I have discovered on many of these plugs is that the rubber seal is so good that when re-installed it will not allow air to escape causing pressure to push back and prevent a tight lockup, especially if lubricated. On some I have even had to slip the end of a paperclip size wire between the rubber surface and female plug until it locks and the pull the wire out. Hope this helps.
