Post subject:  need a new thermostat

I need a new thermostat. What is the best option to go with. I read about an in-line tstat that is very inexpensive or the dealer wants $155+ tax for OEM replacement and $10+tax for the gasket. Is there anything that would be better then original? I think I saw a list of Renaults that would work? I want something that I won't have to replace very often if at all.

Thanks

Suggest you look at idparts.
I have an in-line fail safe in the open position thermostat "never-fail+ by Stant as a spare that I carry with me for emergencies.
Faultless service and communication but look around.
Behr or Mopar brand recommended by me at least.

I replaced my thermostat at 52K with OEM and now it may be failing again at 84K. I will be going inline this time. Replacing the factory one is expensive and pain in the booty.

I suggest you read about how many have had serious overheating issues with the in-line thermostat. I bought one and never installed it because of all the problems. Not everyone has, though.

One overheat is apparently too much. I passed since the risk/reward ratio did not seem favorable.

The message was simple and clear, the first suggestion was the permanent fix per id parts or similar.
One is for emergencies and the others - my recommendations were the Behr and / or Mopar names.
The in-line unit was clearly suggested to give breathing space so a proper fix can be orchestrated.
Or so I thought.
