http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWUIDAQyEEo So now I have more turbo noise. I asked my wife (it's her daily driver) She said it made that noise before it lost its power I can't find any tears or unseated hoses. |

That sounds like an exhaust leak, actually. By any chance is the pipe that runs to the EGR (from exhaust) leaking? |

Mine has been sounding a bit like that too lately. Stopped by the local diesel shop yesterday to see what he thought. He didn't think it was anything to worry about but he also added he didn't drive it every day so he didn't have anything to compare it too. He was thinking something possibly withe the air filter or some loose plastic somewhere. I think if we would have gone for a ride he would have changed his mind. I agree that does sound exhausty, I've looked through my exhaust and haven't seen anything, but I didn't think about that EGR pipe. I'll have to see if I can find somewhere dry around here to look at that tomorrow. Actually the more I listen to that the more it sounds just like mine. Does it sound like a differential that is being driven on low or no oil? This is as soon as you give it any throttle even in park? The sound I'm getting is between idle and 1,000 rpm ish, and then quiets a little as the revs go up but is definitely still there. If I figure out what mine is I will let you know. |

It makes the noise in neutral or park or while driving. |

Same here. I did some looking today at mine, didn't appear to be ERG tube for me at least. I'm going to need to get someone to run the pedal while I listen to try to locate where it's coming from. Best of luck in your search. |

Looks like I might have an air leak on the turbo intercooler. Lot of oily soot 3inches away from where the tube connect to go to the turbo. The plastic fan guard is in the way so I'm going to disasmble soon. |

You may have seen this before/have previously taken the shroud off, but if not I found this helpful when having to take mine off to do a serpentine and alternator: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbi3rRSEdA4 Keep a magnet near by and if you can a spare socket too. I've dropped mine several times and without fail it bounces off a fan blade and just out of sight under the front off the engine. The only option then is to take the shroud and fan off to retrieve it. Hope that intercooler leak fixes your issue. |

I found a leak! The intake boot is seperated at the turbo from the hose clamp. So where can I find the hose that goes from air box to turbo? |

What's making the idle surge like that? Have you checked the belt and all the pulleys? If its not the belt or pulleys, I hate to say it but it sounds like the turbo vanes are scraping the inside of the turbo. Pull the hoses off the turbo, stick your fingers inside and try to wiggle the turbo shaft. If you have a lot of movement you will need a new turbo. Who replaced your turbo last time? Was it a new turbo or a rebuild? A new turbo should not go out after two months unless it's not getting oil. |

what do you mean surging? i had some one on the throttle there is no play in the turbo i replaced it. it doesnt sound like it did previously when the turbo did go out. and the fins dont have any wear on them. i hope its not a turbo |

Ok good. If there is no play then the turbo is fine. Check the belt and pulleys. |

It was due to warped manifold. I now know why the dealer suggests replacing it. |
