I sent my injectors out to be tested. I figured no. 1 was junk as the intake and exhaust valves broke and beat it up. The shop just called and said all 4 are junk. Has anyone had 4 injectors fail at the same time?

Also, any experiences with new vs. remanufactured?

Oregonfuelinjection.com is showing new injectors at $ 464.24, and rebuilt at $379.67. Those are the best numbers I have seen so far.

If it hadn't been for 2 broken valves, the engine would probably still be running. I am suspicious that they didn't know how to test them. What are the odds that all 4 would fail at the same time?

Did you get print outs of the test results for each injector?

Maybe try DFIS in Portland instead? They're supposed to be one of the most reputable around. I don't know about the shop you mentioned.

Thanks for the tip. I am near Reno and went to Diamond Diesel. They had to ship them to Woodland CA.
I think I will send 1 to Portland and see if they get any different results.

I don't know what I am going to get with the injectors, as I haven't picked them up yet. The shop just called me and gave me a status.

John,

We have new OEM injectors for $300 per. It would be an act of God if all 4 failed at the same time.

I would just replace the trashed one, and see how it goes? All 4 magically failing at once?

IMO, 260K mile is a lot of miles for these injectors.
What did their testing indicate?
Did they fail to open/close reliably?
What did the spray pattern look like?

GreenDieselEngineering, are those NEW injectors or rebuilt?
What is the core charge?
If those are actually new, then I am not going to mess with a 2nd opinion, I'll just order a set.

This shop quoted me $475 each for remanufactured, and 5 minutes on Google showed that to be quite high.

Do you have a parts list of what you carry somewhere? I have only purchased a piston and sleeve, but will need quite a few more parts.

I have 3 cylinders that the bore looks almost new with no discernable ridge and am on the fence about re-sleeving those.

Keith said he has new injectors for 300 each. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have said that if it wouldn't be the truth.

The injectors are NEW OEM, not rebuilt. We do not need or want the cores. We do not sell parts via our website, just call and we can work it out. We have a random supply of parts and are not reordering. Once they are gone, it is over. Idparts.com has a larger selection of CRD parts for sure.

when you need CRD parts there are two places you call.

First GDE and talk with Keith, he may have parts but more importantly he'll have excellent advice and insane good knowledge of these vehicles.

Second if need is ID parts, amazing service and again quite knowledgeable.

Thermorex and Keith, please don't take that as an insult or be offended. I didn't mean to imply anything negative. I purchased a Eco Tune a couple of years back and realize that Keith is a straight shooter. I just hate misunderstandings, especially when there is $1200 on the line.

Keith, thanks for the assurance, I will be calling to order. What hours are you in? I'm in California.

I have already purchased from ID Parts and have been very satisfied.

Not trying to steal any money from Keith here, but I would absolutely recommend you send those Injectors to a Bosch certified shop to be re-manufactured before you spend $1200 on a new set.

I found a place willing to do it for $120 each, $480 is much nicer than $1200, seriously. (No, I don't have the name handy but I found them google'ing Bosch Certified Diesel Injector IIRC)

$300 each is an awesome price for new, but yeah, do what your conscience says.

No worries from me, I just highlighted what Keith said. Good luck, I agree with Hexus, 300 is a great price for a new, and then you can also spend 480 to rebuild yours, lol. I have some spare injectors that I'm looking to rebuild, this 120 is a great start to find out a fair price.
