Hello,
Teedub here from Sisters Oregon. I have been looking for a CRD for a couple years and found one with 57k miles, owned by an wonderful old German fellow that was AR as heck about maintenance. He just paid 750 to have all the fluids changed plus a new EGR and new tires, but best of all... it's red.
So I got the MOPAR RL...bl..371..bla..AA torque converter and it's going in Thursday. The GDE programmer is in the mail along with the fumoto oil valve.
I just want to say thanks to all of you for all the wonderful information.

I do have two questions that I can't find the answer for.

What is the best brake upgrade?
Which GDE tune is best? I am thinking the Torque tune as I live in the mountains and want to pull my raft trailer at 1000 pounds.

Thanks again

Teedub

Welcome and congrats on your CRD purchase. You are fortunate to find such a low mileage vehicle
I've owned mine for a year and a half and have put 30,000 miles on it.

To answer your questions,
1. I am very pleased with the stock pads, discs, and calipers. They are very reasonable priced (I was shocked in a good way!) and will continue to use them.
2. When I contemplated the GDE Tune, I called Keith and described my goals for the Jeep. He recommended the ECO Tune as I am still on the OEM Torque Converter. Based on my experience Keith is very willing to help.

As a suggestion from my experience with the CRD, Shell Rotella T6 5w-40 engine oil works very well with these engines.

Best of success with your new-to-you Jeep!

If you don't mind paying 300+ for a set of front pads + rotors, get brembo brakes, best in the world. Akebono is a good brand too. Ceramics are reasonable, meaning they don't generate as much heat and dust, but are not as good in stopping power.

If you have a Autozone in your area, buy their best metallic pads, guaranteed for life, if you ever wear them out, they will replace them with a new set for free... :pepper:
Run them on all my trucks with great success. :JEEPIN:
