Hey guys, I haven't been on the forum in forever and need to get caught up on all the latest and greatest CRD talk. I'm going to be putting some new tires on the CRD and can't remember what the tallest, narrowest tire size is which will fit with a Frankenlift and soft 8s (it has General Grabber 2, 245/75s now but they rubbed a little at full lock when new). I want to go narrower for economy, noise and comfort. It would take me a 3 days to try and sift through all the search results, so if anyone has the answer off the top of their head, I'd appreciate it.

215/85/16 on stock setup, probably 235/85/16 (32" dia) on a lift. Welcome back! Need a timing belt done?

Thanks Geordi I was hoping that you'd chime in. I'm good for the timing belt. I changed at around 120K and am sitting at 170K now. I put a lot fewer miles on the Jeep these days due to being much closer to work. I seem to remember that you were running some tall tires from Sams or Walmart, how were they?

Welcome back.

I'm still running the 215/85s on about 2" of lift.
When these wear out I'm going to lift a bit more and try to squeeze the 235/85s in.

I'm also looking at putting a new set of shoes under my CRD which is running a 'Tony CRD' lift which is approximately a 3" lift. I am currently running 245/75/16 Duratracs which clear just fine on mine other than at full lock where I may hit the pinch welds which have not been flattened.

As for tires I am also looking for a tire with less weight and lower rolling resistance than the Duratracs as I am still struggling with poor fuel mileage, probably something less aggressive as the majority of my driving is commuting to & from work 40 miles per day. As for the Duratracs I have not been satisfied with how they perform in the Colorado foothills during the winter as they have terrible traction in the snow & ice that we get here. Also I live on a dirt road at the top of a hill and every time that I go from pavement to the dirt I need to remember to turn off my traction control otherwise my rear tires are always breaking loose and causing the TC to take over.
