Looks like I lost the turbine oil seal on my 06 CRD. Sounds like Keith is the man to talk to about getting a new turbo since the stealership wants $2800 for a new one, and $700 for a "designed manifold". Never been a big fan of rebuilding turbo's, going back to my Eclipse 4G63 turbo days.

Having said that, anyone have a good conditioned used turbo for sale? I did leave Keith a message as well to see what they stock.

Thanks

Here again it seems that prices are good on ebay uk,
I bought one a few months ago for approx. 600$ and it's a Garett.
Have a look at ebay uk, if there is something interesting pm me for transport.

Just as example:

I replaced turbo a few months back for oil leak. IDparts. Not a bad procedure except I rung off an exhaust stud and ended up drilling, tapping and using a helicoil. Anyone know of a rebuilder I could get to redo the original?

Im the turbo builder (reman and performance turbo chargers) at fleece performance, my suggestion is rebuild it. I personally would call Turbo Diesel and Injection in Indianapolis Indiana and talk to Dave. He will know the charger PN off hand. He just sold his KJ crd to a guy i work with. That being said there might be a overhaul kit available. If not he does have that charger in stock. i was looking at it the other day when i was there picking up some parts. Good luck!

Keith is out of stock turbos, but can still do his turbo kit that adds another 30 ft lbs of torque over his HOT tune.

These turbos do not have seals. Replacement is based on shaft play. Slightly perceptible radial play is normal. ANY axial play means replacement is needed.

Mine was leaking oil into the intake pretty bad. Oiled up the intake all the way to the FCV. I did not notice any play in the shaft with it was mounted, but once I took it off and removed the compressor housing there was play, but not really more than normal on my truck turbos. Compressor had fair amount of oil in it. We live in the mountains and our driveway is uphill. Although is it driven slowly, my egts on my truck is usually 600+* when I park requiring idling prior to shut down. My wife would never do this, despite my encouragement. I think this is what caused the wear and subsequent leak. After seeing the bill for the turbo, she idles it down now.

I searched all over the internet for rebuild kits or rebuilders for the turbo and couldn't find one. I someone will rebuilt it, I'd love to do that and keep it as a spare or sell it.
