I'm going to describe what happened this morning before I start my search which could take some time. Hopefully someone can help! Upon startup something didn't sound right, sounded like a weak battery. A few minutes later while driving down the road, felt a shudder like something was up with the transmission. Few minutes after that the ECT light and battery warning light came on. I pulled over, shut it down, restarted and it took a minute or so for the same lights to come back on. Kept driving hoping I could just make it the few miles to work. After coming to a stop at a light and restarting it was real slow, as if the turbo was dead. Then all kinds of lights started coming on, Air bag, ABS, radio went out and a whole bunch more lights came on, shortly after that, she just shut down completely. Does anyone have an idea what might have happened here? Pretty ironic since I just got an old android phone which I'm using for the torque pro app. while driving I got some codes: P0530-Powertrain A/C refrigerant pressure sensor circuit P0560-Powertrain system voltage B2TAE-body Thanks a million in advance for any and all insights! |

Were you running the torque app the whole time? These CRDs are known to run amuck when you drive around with something plugged into the OBD port. Also, checking for codes while driving is a bad idea. You should only pull and erase codes with the engine off and the key on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm wondering if the alternator has died or is too weak to charge the battery. |

Hi ebb, I don't think I was running torque this morning but the recent addition of the app and the Bluetooth plugin definitely had me wondering...strange coincidence! But I still wonder about your assertion, what about the real time feature of the app? Much of the reason I got it is for that. Should we crd types not use it? Anyhow, just got home to my dead crd in the drive and it does appear to, at the least, be an alternator issue... So I'm on the hunt for an alternator now!! |

Connecting to the PID's with Torque and monitoring them in real time is ok, but reading and clearing codes should only be done with the engine off and key on. Glad you found the problem and got it fixed. Thanks for posting the solution. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What gauges can you display using this setup? In particular, are you getting a boost gauge or EGT gauge? |

There is no EGT because there is no temperature sensor in the exhaust. When everything is working properly, I get: Speedometer (which is more accurate than then one in the dash) RPM Coolant temperature Intake air temp (from MAP sensor) MAP (turbo boost) Fuel rail pressure Engine load % (whatever that means) BTW, I don't get MAF because of a problem in my wiring harness |

The 9141 protocol is known to be one of the slowest codes. The only device I've ever successfully run continuously for any period is the UltraGauge and it drops the ball frequently as it has aged. The car continues to run perfectly but the Ultragauge (after about 12 months) fritzes itself and just goes blank screen. Ultraguage people have been no help stating the obvious of reset the thing etc that anyone who is computer savvy would do anyway and preaching to me about how slow the protocol is. DUH! So I do leave this connected as the only consequence is that the gauge drops out of the loop to the DLC rather than the bus losing the plot. The bus does not get fed data quickly enough to maintain most data tap-offs through the DLC as well as running the vehicle comms. except with AutoEnginuity and it will run as long as needed to do reliable diagnostics without disruption to the bus.. If you are lucky you will get a "NO BUS" message or otherwise nothing and a no run situation will result. |
