I saw a post of someone adding a boost gauge that drilled into a fitting on the top of the motor. I'd like to add a boost gauge but I dont really want to drill anything. Most turbocharged motors have some vacuum/boost lines that can be just tee-d off of to get a boost/vac signal. Does our CRD have any lines like that? Theres got to be something?

Like maybe the brake booster? Thats a good spot on most other turbo vehicles...

PS, I got to drive a Jeep SRT8 around a race track on Monday, ummmm, lets just say that its fast and leave it at that :)

If you purchase a Scanguage, they will read the boost pressure off the OBDII connection. The only problem with the Scanguage is that after about 20 minutes of use, Jeep has the computer controlling half the readouts reset, and this disables the Scanguage.

I've been looking around on the motor looking for places to install sensors, too. I haven't found any easy places to get the boost. The MAP(?) sensor is built into the side of the intake and I don't see any hoses or fittings to use. I've been thinking about putting the sensor in the manifold near where the intake tube bolts on. I'll unbolt the intake tube to get the shavings out.

I also bought a couple drain plug kits. These allow a 'normal' hole (no tapping) to be drilled. If I screwed up when tapping the hole I can go ahead and use the drain plug kit and put the sensor where the drain plug would normally go.

Check out the MPD Monitor from TS Performance. Monitors EGT, Boost, Fuel Rail Pressure, and RPM's. Other than the pyrometer, all the other readouts just plug into the factory sensors on the engine, not the OBD port.

I'm just looking for a simple boost gauge really, I dont want to spend a ton of $$$ on electronics, just a regular $50 boost gauge...

Look around for something like the boost bolt that can be found the the Cummins/Dodge. It's an intake manifold bolt to replace a stock manifold bolt. It has a hole and is taped for a boost sender. If one doesn't exist for the CRD, you could fab one or perhap borrow one from a different application, ie Cummins. Haven't examined the wife's CRD yet to see if something like this would work, but it's a thought.

I be the one the did the boost tap on the motor. Yep I was sweeting when I did the drilling. Not many places to do a tap. Other places to look at would be the intercooler or the EGR mixing valve. As both places you can remove the IC hose and have a way the recover any debrie during drilling.
