I was hoping someone could comment on a strange thing that happened yesterday as I am slightly baffled by it.

I was on a back road, not going very fast, and after I made a right turn, as I pressed the gas pedal there was no power and I noticed that the engine was sputtering like it was missing on one of the cylinders. The CEL did not come on. There was no smoke coming from the exhaust that I could see. Engine temperature was normal. I was able to drive it this way about a mile (nowhere to pull over) to a CVS and park it. When I opened the hood, with it still running, the engine was shaking WAY MORE than normal. I put my hand over the exhaust and it felt like it was missing on one of the cylinders. I turned the engine off and after waiting a couple of minutes fired it back up and it purred like normal. I drove it back to my house (about an hour at 70 mph) and had no issues.

Could this be a result of a sticking injector? Anyone else have this issue? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Vehicle background:
2006, 63,000mi, GDE eco since 33,000mi, HOT tune since about 52,000mi

Sounds like electrical, mine used to do the same thing until I found the #3 cylinder plug wasn't making a good connection. Some dielectric grease and its all good. Next time it happens pull over, let it run, open the hood and wiggle the injector wiring harness plug one at a time.

If an injector plug doesn't make the right connection, it usually throws a cel with a missfire for that cylinder. Do you have any cel light in the dash oatd

Thanks for the input! Thermorex, I have no visible CEL on the dash. From what I know there could be codes thrown in the computer without a CEL light being seen. I am planning to get it plugged in to see if there is anything.

This has happened to me a few times. I haven't tracked it down to anything specific. Shutting off the engine and restarting it clears the problem for me. There has been a few other similar posts on here throughout the years, but nobody seems to have found the exact cause, (injector, battery, water in fuel, bad diesel, etc.)

May be a bit late, just back from a month on "holiday", but take a look at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=78359 . Might bleed fuel filter head and if it has not been done recently replace fuel filter. Otherwise drive and don't worry about it unless it comes back soon.
