Well, my speedo is now more accurate than it ever was. It went from -3 or so at 70 mph (73 on speedo was really 70) to <+1 at 70. Took some getting use to looking down and the speed that was shown was what I was really doing. Unfortunately, whatever he did made my odometer much worst. My truck will always have more miles than what it shows, and now, it is REALLY OFF. I guess you can't win!

For the calibration, I went to Elmwood DCJR in East Providence, RI. The diesel guy knew exactly what he was looking for when he told me where it was as I was reading what Sir Sam sent me a while back.

Scratching head? The speedo and odometer get their readings from different places, I thought. My speedo with stock tires reads almost 10% high, and the odometer about 5 % low.

I had the same thing done last fall. I, too, am now dealing with roughly an 8% slow odometer.

Most stock KJ CRDs with stock tires have an odometer that records about 90% of the miles actually travelled.

Don't want to start another lengthy discussion about what "most" CRD speedo and odometer gauge error is but for what it's worth my current 05, don't recall for the rear ended 05, is essentially right on for both with my current tires (stock size but not OEM). With the original OEM tires the speedo was within 1% but the odometer was off by as I recall about 2% (e.g. actual distance traveled was +2%). Stoutdog's 06 gauge error is a bit different but not a large amount. In both cases this is GPS corrected based on several runs.

All I'm saying is actual vehicle specific error, GPS corrected, varies within specific vehicle models and between models and companies. What your vehicle does is what it does and is not necessarily the same as the next vehicle down the assembly line.

I am curious why getting the speedo on throws the odometer off as I too thought they got data from different sources.

Wonder if Keith knows.

Or pull the plug on the top of the diff on an 05 and just stop the odometer whenever you want. :ROTFL:

SERIOUS NOTE: Do not unplug the connector, it is used with ABS and can affect the safety of the vehicle.

I have an odd problem but a related problem
I've had the dealership set the ECM on my gasser for the tires that I'm running however the speedo remains inaccurate. The odd thing is that the ScanGauge device that I've plugged into my OBDII II reads correct. Odd problem isn't?
