my ac fan works on what I believe to be as low . I start jeep with ac on high and fan in front of radiator comes on but if you leave jeep sitting still idling fan goes off . I have not checked fuses or relays . where do I start to check and diagnose problem ? I thought this was just going to be simple fan swap but not sure fans bad now . I am also not sure I really need ac fan since I live in bfe and closes town has 2 traffic lights , so it not like its not getting air across it since jeep is either doing 55mph or 75 to 80mph depending if on interstate or state hwys

What does the fan do with the engine just idling and the AC off?

Sounds to me like you have a bad relay or fuse.

With the engine cold, idling, and AC off, the fan should be off.
If in this state, the fan is on, you have a bad relay or fuse.

If the fan is off...

Then, without doing anything else, pull one of the two fan relays. Doesn't matter which one.
The fan should then turn on, on LOW.
(dont ask me why, its just how it works)
Then replace that relay and pull the other one.
If either state (only one relay inserted) results in the fan NOT being ON...

Then you have a bad relay, fuse or other wiring problem.

If both states result in the fan being on low, then test with the engine fully warmed up
and AC on.

ac was not as cold as it used to be , when I went to check Freon, pressure was to high and fan not running . I read on here how to clean screen behind glove box , after cleaning ac blows good if moving or if you first start to idle but after about a minute idling at red light ac stops being cold

ok pulled high relay and fan came on then replaced , I swear fan went on high for second , then pulled low relay and when replaced fan went on high for split second .
im not sure I even have problem now , we bought this jeep for my wife new in 06 . we had a problem with fuel back in feb and I finally got it fix about a month ago . we got my wife a Lincoln towncar in feb and she is not wanting to drive jeep until winter when we get ice and snow . I started driving it since she is not and noticed ac was not as cold as used to be but maybe cleaning off dirt and lint from screen behind glove box fixed it , it sure blows colder since I cleaned screen but then why when I checked Freon was pressure so high ? I don't know im kinda lost , maybe im trying to fix something that's not broke , jeeps not over heating ( never gets over half way on gauge ) and ac is blowing cold now

You can test AC performance as follows: AC performace can be checked with hand held thermometer as long as there is no significant drop in perfomance at "idle" (e.g. ca. 1,000 rpm). See 2005 FSM pages 24-4 & 5 for test method. Do test after car FULLY cooled which takes about 10 miles on a really hot day at max. AC. June 2010 readings were 45 and 48 at 75 and 95 ambient respectively.
