Has anyone on this list rebuilt a 2.8 CRD? More specifically has anyone replaced the crankshaft bearings?
My block is back from the shop, fresh sleeves, etc. I whipped out my trusty VM.1073 Crankshaft front bearing tool, and pulled the stock bearings out slick as can be. Now, I reversed the process to put my .25 mm oversized bearing in, and the tool got stuck. I went and removed the bearing, and now it has tiny grooves in it that match the tiny grooves in the tool. It seems like the tool is the right size for stock size bearings, but is slightly too think for the .25 mm oversize bearings. At this point, I am thinking I need to find someone with a lathe and turn the tool down about .25 mm and get another bearing, or try to find another tool that fits.
Any ideas anyone?
John
