LOST JEEPS :: View topic - Hanging Hose from Transfer Case? Help identify

Since I could not find where the vent hose originally connected; I cut about 1/2" off the end the hose where it was split, added about 3 feet of 3/8 fuel line hose using a barbed connector. I routed the new hose up and terminated it just behind the fuse/relay box, plenty high. :wink:

I could tell by looking at the end that I cut off, it was connected to something at one point as it had a full clamp mark impression into the rubber. :roll:

This hose goes to the top of the transfer case, I traced it from underneath and looked everywhere for the original connection point.
Odd thing I did notice while under there, the vent on top of the transmission housing has a very short hose about an inch long with a plastic vent cap on the end. If you were to in water high enough to get to the top of the transmission water could get into the housing? :shock:

I may just tee transmission vent into the transfer case vent hose for added safety!
Anyone ever done this before, and could it cause any problems tying the two units together?
I could run a separate hose just for the transmission if it would be a problem. :?:

Good Morning, I noticed this hose hanging down yesterday. It appears to come from above the transfer case and come forward to something, but I'm not sure where it should hook up to. Any advice? See link below to imgur album of the hose in question. I tried to picture what I could, but it's hard to get up there. Jeep seems to be running normally. http://imgur.com/a/q78NY

It's not uncommon for the transmission vent hose to hang down in that area. If the other end of the hose goes to either the tranny or transfer cast just fish it up and zip tie it to the oil dipstick tube and forget about it. It's supposed to mount up relatively high in case you run thru deep water.

Does anyone know what they orginially connected to? I found mine laying in the area next to the fuel filter after the new torque converter was installed. Would be nice to know where it was routed when the unit was built. thanks,

I never found where it originated either. I just made it work.
