2006 Liberty CRD Limited with 32xxx miles. Red with the gray interior, all weather floor mats, tow package, fog light, and the normal Limited options I think. Cloth interior. I bought it from an old couple who didn't drive it much and I purchased it when they stopped driving all together. It was purchased new in Wyoming and then they moved down here to Denver. When I bought it last summer the mileage was 20300. I've serviced it with Mobil 1 5w-40 turbo diesel oil from week one that I've owned it. The truck drives great and the only things wrong with it is that it has a couple scratches in the paint, needs a wash, and the windshield is cracked like most Colorado cars are in the spring. The only reason I'm selling is that I had planned on selling my 2500hd Duramax which hasn't happened, so I don't need two 4x4 diesel vehicles. I also still owe some money to the bank, so we would have to go down to my credit union to complete the transaction. I'm located in Westminster, CO. The follow mods/maintenance have been completed in the first couple thousand miles. Price is 14900 which I think is fair for such a rare low mileage truck with what's included and done to it so far...

* V6 airbox mod
* Fumoto oil drain valve
* 2nd generation fuel filter head
* Timing belt only change
* Front and rear diff oil change to include G2 cover
* Green Diesel Engineering Hot tune
* Double USB charging ports in center console.
* Straight piped muffler delete....pretty much sounds just a bit louder than stock to me....
* The intake elbow kit sold here on the forum.
* 7v steel glow plugs installed while the timing belt was changed.
* Also included in the sale price is some left over coolant, about a case of the Napa Gold oil filters that give you the full 7qt change, a new factory wire harness for future lift pump install, old egr valve and elbow
* Pvc routed out of the intake track to keep the oil mist out of the intake.
* All the timing belt and glow plug parts purchased from IDparts.

Not to rain on your parade - I do wish you the best of luck in selling it - but you are about $1000 over the Kelley Blue Book "Excellent" rating, which they almost NEVER are able to reach on a used vehicle.

The extras / mods that you have done are good, I would have done much of the same. Good find on the vehicle itself too - almost a "barn find" vehicle with those miles on it. However (and you had to see that coming) the reality of selling a car is that mods / upgrades from stock will almost never pay back their own cost at resale.

Kelley Blue Book for your zip code shows a top of $13,900, with a bottom in "fair" (really it means crap-that-still-somehow-moves) of $12,600. Not too far off where you are, and certainly within the realm of normal negotiations.

Of course, if you took it to a dealer, they would offer you about $4500 and a bus transfer for it... With a straight face, too.

That is something to be aware of, but by the same token, there are many many people that have registered and never post anything. They are the legion of Lurkers.

In any transaction like this, it is always best to do the sale face-to-face with cash and title trading hands at the same time. Variations on that are at your own risk and judgement. I look at any vehicle or large-item purchase as always an as-is where-is situation. If I don't see it on/in/with the item... It doesn't exist or factor in to the price negotiations.

I just purchased a $30,000 motorhome, from (of all places) a Craigslist posting. It took 3 trips up to Central Florida to get it done, the first 2 trips were inspections and getting ducks in a row, then trip #3 was the actual collection of the coach and payment - Which in this case happened to be a payoff to the bank. The seller had his reasons for wanting out, I haven't found anything critically wrong with the unit, but he had priced it significantly less than the blue-book value. Basically, his price was the payoff amount. That alone was a bit of a red flag for me, which made me VERY carefully look at the unit for anything suspicious. Surprisingly, I found nothing of real concern. Primary reasons for such a low value would have been body damage from water intrusion or fiberglass damage - soft spots on the walls... These are things that the average buyer wouldn't know to even look for.

Research is key, and looking at the item / seller in person, and trusting your gut instincts.

I wouldn't count anyone out just because of a low post count... Not everyone is as much a loudmouth as I am. :mrgreen:

Normally, this is a bit high. But somebody that really wants a crd with low miles and no salt exposure, may in fact pay as much. There was a dealer on autotrader that had 2 crds with 50k miles and some change, both sport, one Florida, one North Carolina. Both were 15.5k. One month later, the Florida was gone. But 5 months later, the North Carolina one was still on sale. So you never know... But if you want to sell your car, either ask for market price, either keep it. Some cars don't worth to be sold if there were too many investments done, the become part of the family, lol.

I'm all for a free market. But I can't help but drive by and sneer a bit. The appeal for this vehicle is the mpg savings which is negated by overpaying for it. These trucks have issues which are costly to fix and difficult to find a competent technician for. So if I buy this truck, there's no equity in it for me to make reliability mods. Do-it-yourself-ers are by nature frugal.

I live an hour South of the seller. If someone out of state wants me to look at it for them, just holler...it'll only cost you fuel.

Was the torque converter upgraded when the Hot tune was added?

PM sent
I'm in the Denver metro and interested in looking at the vehicle. Army moved me out to CO from Florida and I want to grab a 4x4 for the winter. Always wanted a CRD so I can finally rationalize it to myself.

Sorry all,

The jeep is no longer for sale. I couldn't justify the Jeep, a honda beater, 1962 C10 short bed, 2500hd duramax, a 4x4 d50 diesel, and a few others so I put the duramax and Jeep up for sale to clear the garage and driveway up a bit. The duramax sold first, so I'm keeping the CRD.
