So...I will be working on the rear of my CRD, replacing springs and shocks, and would like to take every possible precaution. I have a 3-ton floor jack, new 3-ton jack stands, and will chock in front of and behind the front wheels. But, I was thinking, shouldn't I drive the truck into my garage in 4WD? That way, when I'm in park, it's actually locking up the front wheels. I know the parking brake will be of no assistance, since it only affects the rear....

Thanks to anyone who would like to chime in...

With the wheel stoppers/chockes on the front wheel (both front and rear of front wheels is better), use some 6x6 or 4x4 if you need to and you should be fine. Safest if to put the Jack stands on the rear frame, and from a side, before remove any part or wheel, push the vehicle and see if it is firmly seating on jack stands and Jack. Pretty much I'd say you got it right :Pepper:. Have fun!
P. S. Did you think to get an airlift? I think is cheaper than 2 Springs.

Just make sure it's Part Time 4wd so the transfer case is locked.

Cool...thanks for the input, guys. Actually, I'm installing a lift. Rear is done...front is getting close to done. Wow, what a job! Will be glad when it's over and I can enjoy the truck again. Doing a lift alone without a large tool collection makes for a pretty good challenge!!

Cool, yea, it sucks to start something and then stop to go to a parts store to get a tool you need or a part... This is why I started to get all kind of tools, but never have "everything" I need, lol...
