On my way to work this morning, it ran fine until I stopped at yet another light and when I hit the pedal, I had turbo lag something horrible. It won't do squat until the motor hits about 2400 - 2600 and then the turbo spools and away it goes. I didn't find any boost leaks, at least not yet. The hoses seems solid and you can't hear any obvious leaks. The actuator on top of the turbo moves freely, so that seems fine. The plastic tube that runs to it does not leak, either. You can suck a vacuum on it and it holds. Any suggestions? I could not lay my hands on my bluetooth reader device, so I have no idea if there's codes (the MIL doesn't work). |

I found the problem. There are two electrical solenoids in the vac circuit to the turbo vent actuator. One is between the vac reservoir and what looks like a regulator controlled by a solenoid. The one between the reservoir and the regulator isn't opening. I bypassed it and it's back to normal performance. Now, I just need to know the purpose for that first black one (override of some kind?) and if it's safe to leave it bypassed. |

I'm not sure which solenoid you bypassed but FYI the boost pressure solenoid bypass is discussed at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=70602&p=757348&hilit=boost+solenoid#p757348 and if that one is bad the PN is 4606226AC (ops CORRECTED PN - sorry about that in my haste I searched my parts list for "boost" and did not pay attention to the whole description when I copied the PN). I'll also add that this solenoid is used on a number of DCJ vehicles so there may be an aftermarket alternative but I've not found one. |

Well, I just bypassed that solenoid like in the picture. Works great. Funny how I tried what someone else figured out... But I didn't know about it then. ![]() BTW, that part number is the FILTER, not the solenoid. |
