I think this is in the field service manual, you can download from Noob guide. Also, the Chrysler tech should confirm this, if he really knows a little bit about CRD.

Eric:

From the 2005 Factory Service Manual, Section 9 (Engine) page 9-206:

ROCKER ARMS
DESCRIPTION
The rocker arms are made of stamped steel and serviced as an assembly along with the lifter. The rocker arm also has a fracture point. This fracture point is designed to prevent engine failure if the engine is not timed properly or the timing belt breaks suddenly. (Fig. 59).

We should talk again. I'd be interested to know exactly what the dealership has done to determine cylinder head and valve damage. This would be highly unlikely based on my experience, but is a common thing that the dealerships claim without doing any actual mechanical investigation. I may also be interested in your CRD as it sits, to prevent it from going to a scrap yard.

Lol. The dealer that replaced the recalled rear arms on my CRD knew that the engine is italian and not made by Mercedes, and he apparently had all the tools for timing belt. This is not bad for a dealer... Would I take my crd there for anything not warranty based? Heck no!!! Rather break something myself than pay somebody to mess it up for sure. BTW, that tech that replaced the lower arms torqued them while car was lifted at over 400lbs (I measured it when go home), not with wheels on the ground, like any sound mechanic would do... didn't bother saying anything to those monkeys, jut took it out, went home, untied and re-torqued the bolts per fsm (think is 120lbs) and hope to never see them again.

And I had such a wonderful experience with the dealer our Jeep was taken to.
